THOR-gasmic Times

In Film and Related, Roughly About Films on May 5, 2012 at 11:10 pm

We recently purchased the DVD of THOR, directed by Kenneth Branagh.  (We bought it in the run-up to the release of THE AVENGERS yesterday.)

We’ve watched it twice so far… Anthony Hopkins is majestic as Odin, Natalie Portman glows as a suitably proactive Jane Foster, and the actors playing the Warriors Three, Lady Sif, and Rene Russo as Frigga were well-cast.

Tom Hiddleston almost stole the show as Loki, and Chris Hemsworth was titanic as Thor Odinson.  Most of the women I’ve heard from, and some of the men (even some straight ones), are having nerd-gasms about him; he’s become eye candy for almost everyone who’d seen the film, and are looking forward to seeing him again in THE AVENGERS.

Branagh’s treatment of the Nine Realms is a visual effects gem, and the effects for Bifrost are stunning.  But Hemsworth’s change from an arrogant prince to someone who cares about innocents is one of the more stunning transformations I’ve seen.

Do I recommend this movie?  Aye, in sooth I so say.

  1. We all loved this movie. And we saw the Avengers yesterday. Thought it was awesome!

  2. Just wanted you to know, I’ve nominated you for the best follower award!

    • I thank you… I’ve already put up a post with a few thoughts, and I will work on nominations for others.
      Hmm… This means something!
(Reference to fan film Closet Encounters of the Nerd Kind, which I saw back in the day…
